WTF is Mahjong?

American Mahjong is a challenging and social tile game involving four players, 152 adorable tiles, strategy, skill and a little bit of luck! The more you play, the more you’ll fall in love.
Mahjong is definitely having it’s moment, but it’s deeply rooted in history and tradition.
American Mahjong is one of many variations derived from Traditional Chinese Mahjong, which has been around for centuries. There are over 40 known variations include (but not limited to) Japanese (Richii), Singaporean, Taiwanese, Malaysian, Hong Kong and Vietnamese.
Learning all of these is definitely on our bucket list, but for now we’re just your resident American Mahjong gals. You can learn with us, you can play with us, and you can even shop with us. Beginner FAQs

Gather your friends or family and we bring the full learning experience to you! All you need is a table and chairs for everyone to sit around comfortably. Lessons are priced per person and we require a minimum of 4 people and maximum of 16 people for private lessons. Check out our instructors’ availability here.

You don’t need to bring a thing, except an open mind and a positive attitude!

Mahjong is a 4 player game, however, you can play with 3 and a ghost player (aka Bob/girlfriend/MIA). We do our best to have 4 per table to give everyone the best learning experience.

We offer follow-up lessons, refreshers, and strategy sessions if you’re hooked on the game and committed to getting better and better. We also host group learnings classes that are excellent for guided play and additional practice with other players.
You can also play online at ILOVEMAHJ.COM against bots, other humans, or checkout their exercise rooms for specific skill building and practice.
